I am a lifelong animal lover, having loved and been fascinated by animals since very young. I was fortunate that both of my parents loved animals as well and allowed me to keep pretty much whatever kind of animals I wanted.
In High School I decided to study veterinary medicine. I began to volunteer with local veterinarians. I began college in Massachusetts with a Biology major. I was doing pretty well when my family decided to move to Northern California. One of my professors advised me to transfer to UC Davis because they had a great veterinary school.
Then of course I met my husband and got married, and started a family. Veterinary school fell by the wayside.
In 1996 during a visit to my Mother's I discovered the California School of Dog Grooming. I signed up immediately, then went home for some months. After a seasonal job in a farm supply store finished up, I went back down to Southern California and finished up with honors at the grooming school.
I worked in various shops for several years and finally had a chance and enough chispah to start my own business. Linda's Pet Grooming became a reality in 2004. I was very successful and even was able to acquire a custom built mobil salon by the end of 2005.
I moved to Colorado Springs where I had family for a while. I did work in a shop in the Springs and I also did caregiving for elderly people. I loved both jobs and I loved living in Colorado Springs. But I got a chance to move to Oregon where my daughter lives with her husband and 2 children. I'm enjoying being a grandmother but I still love grooming too. So I'm setting up Linda's Pet Grooming again, starting as I did in 2004 with housecall grooming.
I live in Hillsboro, Oregon now and am grooming pets in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Cornelius, Forest Grove, and other surrounding areas.
When I come to your home, I will bring my equipment into your home and do all the grooming in an area you feel comfortable. I will need access to a tub or sink with warm water. I will also need space to set up a small table, electricity and good lighting. In the past I've groomed in kitchens, laundry rooms, the garage or on the patio. I use a Clipper Vac which vacuums up the hair as I clip it. My dryer is not too much of an electricity hog and won't blow your circuits. I do have a lamp that can boost the lighting. When I finish I clean up all the rest of the hair, put all my stuff back into my car, kiss your pooch so long, and your dog will be so happy. He didn't have to go to a scary place, stay in a cage, listen to other dogs barking, or catch anything either. It's less stress for you and your pet. If you like, you can even stay with your dog during the whole groom.
I offer a wide range of services to meet your pet's grooming needs. From shedding to flea control and medicated treatments, bathing is the foundation of every great groom. After the bath, I carefully dry your pet so that the coat is fluffy and completely dry. Then it's on to brushing, clipping, and styling! Clipping is done to shorten and even the length of coat and styling is done with scissors. Did you know that the hair grows at different rates in different areas on your dog's body? Yes it does and that's why the overall clip is necessary to to give your dog a nice even look. I love making the dog look plushy! Finally I scissor and that puts the finished look on your dog be it a round teddy bear face on a shih tzu or pointy beard and eyebrows on a schnauzer. You might even appreciate a lion trim like Nicky has.
